Summer Camp Artist #13 – The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band

by Kane on April 20, 2006

Summer Camp Artist Series addition #13 is a personal favorite of mine, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band. First off I’d like to say that the picture above is *exactly* what a Reverend Peyton show is like. Washboard Breezy (on washboards) is going insane and The Rev (Guitar and Vox) is belting the shit out of something fun. Throughout the show, they maintain similar expressions to that, too. They’re a family trio out of Indianapolis. Breezy and The Rev are married, and Jayme Peyton (Drums) and The Rev are brothers. So right from the get-go the band seems very tightnit on stage, and they play hard from start to finish.

I managed to catch the Big Damn Band opening up for Groovatron or Big Wu I believe in Fall 2005, and it was quite enjoyable. Always a dance party, those Rev Peyton shows. Their sound is a very unique one, since you rarely see a lineup quite like theirs, and all of their songs have a distinct sound that you wouldn’t mistake for anyone else. That said, it’s late, and I’m gonna share some tracks. Check out BigDamnBand.com, and go befriend them on MySpace. Also I’m throwing in an extra logo because it’s a favorite of mine. I’ve got the shirt to prove it.
From 2004′s The Pork N’ Beans Collection:

RPBDB – My Soul To Keep
RPBDB – Plainfield Blues
RPBDB – That Train Song (It sounds like a train!)
