It’s been quite a bit of time since I’ve posted anything by Ryan Adams, especially considering he’s been one of my favorite artists over the last couple years. I ran across this recording while pokin’ around on Archive.org. It features an exceptionally chatty Adams on electric and acoustic guitar, as well as piano, both solo and with a backing drummer. The sound quality of the instruments and vocals is very good, since it appears to be a soundboard. Sadly the taper split the tracks far too excessively and labeled them poorly, so all the chat between segments have their own files. If anything, it’ll let you listen to Adams babble away a little easier.

*Very* chatty isn’t he? I’ll be sure to play this to the next person who calls him an ‘arrogant prat’ live. Thanks for this by the way.

You make a good point I didn’t consider. There are more than a few critics who feel he’s not nearly discerning enough in his choice of what songs to publish. While I agree on a few accounts, most of us fans of Adams just call him prolific.

That’s just one of the things that comes to mind that give people the impression that he’s kind of a prick. I’m sure he has his moments like any musician, especially those solo ones, but this recording does give some good insight to what he can be like live. That and Phil Lesh & Friends, New Year’s Ever, Dec 31, 2005. Adams, Lesh, and Joan Osbourne slaughtered an incredible set list that night, they even stick in one of Adams’ tunes, “Peaceful Valley,” towards the end of the night.

Yeah, that was worth it. Thanks for posting these. That took awhile to download, but I’m LOVING it right now, so thanks. I love you.
