Quotables: I Must Inquire Internet…
…Can you still have fun?
Just ran across a good article written by David Steinberg (of ZZYZX Stat Fame) for jambands.com back in August of this year. Here’s the link to the full article, and a segment that I liked most:
“One of the great things about the jambands scene has always been the lack of judgment. As long as you’re not hurting anyone or affecting their ability to enjoy the show, what does it matter how they are dressed or what they’re doing. One of my favorite tour activities was always to take someone to their first show and have them see a gathering of people who were trying to have as much fun as possible.
Go on. Dress up in weird clothes. Find a spot with no people around and perform cool hula hoop tricks. Create little skits to perform in the parking lot or during the set break. Throw confetti at appropriately timed spots. While the main focus will always be on the music, a creative crowd can help turn a mediocre show into a great time and a great show into a life changing experience. If someone else has a problem with that, that’s their issue. If they mess with you, they’ll have to answer to me!”

Geez…you hippies! Makes me almost want to get out the tie-died African shirt somebody gave me back in the day. I can’t even remember how to spell it, tye, tie?dye die?
Whatever. I just got an email from my college alumni association telling me there’s now a group online for “extreme frisbee” fanatics. I think I’ll sign up.
My long lost college roomate would expect no less.
An I still love seeing those trippy girls dancing those hippy dances. It still works for me after all these years. :)

well you tie it, then dye it, so Tie-Dye. It occurred to me at some point in the recent past that the frisbee golf course you took us to near UNI was actually much cooler than it appeared when I was younger. They actually had a few mobile courses in Minnesota when John and I were up there. By the way, somehow I can’t imagine UofIllinois contacting me in 25 years telling me there’s a new frisbee club to join. Interesting choice UNI.

That’s what your comment made me think of, pretty accurate.

Yeah….dancing girls like that. Eyes closed, swirling, arms doing that thing they do, and the hair….it’s just a beautiful thing to watch.
Reminds me of the dervish devils I think it was. Someone asked the wise man what to do about them. He said, “let them swirl”!
