Summer Camp 2007 Artist Series - Friday

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Alright, moving on to the first official day of the festival, Friday. I’m going to split the day up into Noon to 6pm and 6pm to Late, just to make it a little easier to sort through these. Again, these are in order by stage time. For those that don’t know, Moonlight Main Stage is the large stage that moe. plays on every night, Sunshine Stage is a medium size stage with the open field and camping nearby, and Camping Stage is a smaller stage in the wooded area off of the path on which you enter the festival. On to the tunes!

Again, this guide is probably most useful while looking at the Jambase Summer Camp Schedule: http://www.jambase.com/festivals/summercamp/

Summer Camp 2007 Artist Series - Thursday PreParty

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

(If you are viewing this in facebook click here)

Well I waited a little longer this year to begin the Summer Camp Artist Series, and I’ve made a couple changes. I’m going to present all four days of the festival one at a time rather than having a post for every artist in attendance. Hopefully this will still give everyone a chance to hear something from every artist playing before they get to Chillicothe. The artists are ordered by time of show. My personal picks, and where you’ll most likely find me throughout the weekend, are indicated with this fancy little graphic: . Yup, we may not post often here at BurningOak any more, but we’ve got some cool pictures. Alright, on to the festival!

To make the best use of this guide, I recommend going through it while you make your selections on the JamBase Summer Camp Schedule. Man, they should really give me free tickets or something for this, you know?

Summer Camp Artist Additions #3

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

New additions to the lineup on March 17th:

Al & The Transamericans
Backyard Tire Fire
The Brakes
Kilborn Alley Blues Band
Chicago Farmer
Jassy Grazz
Waterstreet
Brainchild
the PMG
Macpodz

Glad to see Chicago Farmer on there, he’s really got his stuff together.  Backyard Tire Fire and Waterstreet I expected to see.  The Brakes, Kilborn Alley, Jassy Grazz, and Brainchild are all Summer Camp Veterans so nothing out of the ordinary here, I’m just interested to see what Al & The Transamericans are all about.

Summer Camp News

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

Just a little clarification on some recent news.  Vince Herman, guitarist and singer for Great American Taxi and Leftover Salmon, will again be the MC for Summer Camp 2007, not just a performer.  Past Summer Camp attendees will recall his shenanigans as some of the better memories of the festival, I know I do.  He’ll be manning the main stage in between the standard headliner sets from moe., Umphrey’s McGee, and whoever else gets the main stage gigs.  According to the Great American Taxi newsletter:

“We were also just added to Summer Camp 2007 in Chillicothe, IL.  The band will play on Saturday and we will be there all weekend while Vince MCs the festival.   FESTIVAL!”

If you haven’t seen or heard Great American Taxi, I assure you, it’s well worth your time.  They played one of the best non-main stage sets of 10,000 Lakes 2006, hands down.  I’m off to work, Peace.
